Why do lash serums take so long to see results?

Why do lash serums take so long to see results?

Hey there! Have you ever tried using an eyelash growth serum and felt like it takes forever to see any results? I totally get it! It can be really frustrating when you're hoping for those longer, fuller lashes ASAP. But don't worry, there's actually a pretty scientific reason why it takes so long for these serums to work.

First, it's important to understand the biology of eyelash growth. Like all hair on our bodies, eyelashes go through a growth cycle that consists of three phases: anagen, catagen, and telogen. During the anagen phase, which lasts between 30 and 45 days, the eyelash actively grows. This is followed by the catagen phase, which lasts for about two weeks and marks the end of active growth. Finally, during the telogen phase, the eyelash falls out and a new growth cycle begins.

Eyelash growth serums work by extending the anagen phase of the growth cycle, which in turn allows lashes to grow longer and thicker. But since lashes only grow about 0.12 to 0.14 millimeters per day, and they are not all in anagen phase when you start applying lash serum it can take several weeks or even months to see a noticeable difference in lash length.

Another reason why eyelash growth serums take time to work is individual variability. Everyone's lashes are different, and some people's lashes may simply grow more slowly than others. Plus, some people may be more responsive to the active ingredients in eyelash growth serums than others, which can also affect how quickly they see results.

And finally, it's important to keep in mind that eyelash growth serums are not magic potions that can instantly transform your lashes. Consistent use over a period of weeks or months is necessary to see results. Skipping applications or discontinuing use altogether can also slow down or reverse any progress that has been made.

Application Tips for Eyelash Growth Serums

Now that we've talked about why eyelash growth serums take time to work, let's talk about some tips for applying them to get the best results.

First and foremost, it's important to apply eyelash growth serum consistently. Most products recommend daily application, and it's important to stick to this routine in order to see results. Try incorporating it into your nightly skincare routine to make it a habit.

When applying the serum, make sure your eyelids are clean and free of any makeup or residue. You can use a gentle cleanser or micellar water to clean the area before applying the serum.

Next, use the applicator that comes with the serum to apply a thin line of product along your lash line. Be careful not to get any product in your eyes, and don't apply too much - a little goes a long way.

Finally, let the serum dry completely before going to bed or applying any other products to your face. It's also a good idea to avoid touching your eyes or rubbing them too much after applying the serum.

With consistent use and proper application, you should start to see longer, fuller lashes in a few weeks to a few months. Remember to be patient and stick with it!

ps: consider taking photos every few weeks, because the change is slow and gradual you might be missing just how much your lashes have lengthened!
